Welcome to the real hunger games

When DRAM prices are 'high', or rather 'above expectations' (DRAM prices are never really 'high') system designers look for creative alternatives.  Then DRAM prices plummet and all that is swept away until the next bankruptcy, fire or natural disaster that disrupts the supply chain. We are coming out of the Elpida bankruptcy and Hynix fire, coupled with this development prices have already begun their next freefall.

And may the odds be ever in your favor.

Wonder what the process details are, very impressive. Micron and SKHynix wouldn't be too far behind, I guess?

>>"The new approach to double patterning enables 20nm DDR3 production using current photolithography equipment, Kadivar said."<<

That's great news, but are there any issues with the characterization tools?
