Even if you don't want to wear a Hawaiian shirt all day, hopefully you'll be sporting one at the main conference party on Tuesday April 1 between 4:00pm and 5:00pm on the main exhibit floor...

If I make it to ESC/EE Live!!!!!, I will be wearing my very colorful QC Optics Hawaiian hat, which makes those Atmel hats look monochromatic.

BTW, the best swag I remember hearing about was Razor scooters, given away at Semicon West around the year 2000 (just before the dot-bomb crash).

Aaaack! One class pass!

I've been going to ESC every year since 2007 using a Cheapskate Pass.  I'm quasi-local, so I usually only do a single day.  This year ESC day is Wednesday so I can hear Bunnie Huang and smell Max's bacon-and-beer session.

One of the advantages of the Cheapskate Pass is that figuring out what sessions to attend is pretty quick.  But this year they're giving me a one-class pass!  Now I have to look through all those other sessions.  Riches beyond the wildest dreams of avarice!

Yeah right.  April 1st.  Whom are you trying to fool, Max?  :)

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems. Signal integrity sage Ransom Stephens will explain how PAM4 differs from NRZ and what to expect in design, measurement, and signal analysis.
