Acquire data from a tape reader

I have an optical tape reader reference Eeco and I want that once the band (with 8 holes + a small hole "sprocket hole") going on inside I can acquire data written on punched tape. I started by connecting the Arduino Uno board with  card reader linked to strip connector 25 pins and I put a program to read the 8 bits of data out of the connector but I'm stuck on the signal generated by SPKT "sprocket holes. "

Is that the data do not change at that the time of activation SPKT signal or not?

The data should be stable (unchanging) at the time the sprocket hole is sensed.

Have you an idea about how to register a large number of data acquired by an Arduino uno card in a text file??
