Are these numbers per channel, or the total capacity of the device for all channels?
Hi Adam, thanks for the welcome! Well, the site went down around 7am our time so Mark and I haven't had much sleep. But it's a huge day for us, one we've been working on for a really long time. Good times to be sure.
I personally have the Openbench Logic Sniffer from Dangerous Prototypes. I was also going to do a comparison based upon what I can find on the web at these price points. These would be more of a paper comparison.
According to what has been told to me and what their device simulator has on their webpage, you can have each channel taking both analog and digital or set to either or. Each channel can be configured individually.
Based upon the basic comparison, it looks like the Saleae family of devices is offering a better device. It has the same or better features along with compatability across more devices for the same or better price.
I would say that vaporware would be an unfair assesment. Vaporware usually does not get to the point of funding. This is not like kickstarter where you are trying to fund someones development budget, this is funding the production run. I do not want to give away too much of what was shared with me, but I can say that I should have a production device in my hands in relatively short order. Mark or Joe might be able to add more to this.
Well, I do have one of their logic analysers (Logic16) for over one year now, and it greatly saved the day several times. The device and the software are every bit as good and sexy as they say, and I will order one of the analog ones as soon as I am finish writing this, I was wondering when they will launch one with analog capabilities, and here we are...
It is easy to point the finger to a small company that tries to produce something useful, I believe their offer is honest and based on a proven past.
I think that you have put it more sucinctly than I could. I agree that there is little to worry about. I know that they have their production samples, and that the fundraising effort is to establish production for these devices, not particularly to fund development. They have been developing these parts for the last 18 months.
Few months later: I got my new Logic16 Pro analyzer, all looks and works fantastic, as expected - not vapourware at all, the wait was well worth. A cascade of software updates, each sorting problems I didn't encounter made the final product even much more apetising. I didn't use too much the benefits of having analog inputs, but as far as I can tell, all is at superlative.
