50 kids learned how to dial a rotary phone

Nice that kids still take an interest in this stuff, and good of you to coach them.


Back in the late '60s it was possible to jiggle the 'hook' up and down in a public pay telephone booth to simulate the dial pulses. If one got the timing right one could save a dime...

Yesterday's LEAP Telephone Workshop was a Great Success and this is why:

1) 50 kids learned how voice becomes electric current and back to voice, then one of them asked, "why is current labeled "I" and not "C"?"

2) 50 kids learned how to dial a rotary phone, then one of them asked, "are rotary mechanisms more complicated than a cellphone?"

So, was the workshop a success or not?
