Its would be quite fruitful to have involved biologist and physicians in the development of biomedical sensors. They can give a more human approach to the device then an enginner can.

This article has dual advantage, first that it involves Electronics engineers, physicists, biologists, and physicians for the development of sensors, this will surely give help in achieving good results and second the initiative is looking for a cost effective solution, I am glad to know that at the starting point of the initiative the goal is towards the cost explosion in public healthcare. Very nice.
