Lawyers

If you have one lawyer in a small town, he will starve.  If you add a second lawyer they will both get rich.  Further, a lawyer I worked with years (decades) ago told of a picture in the library where he went to law school.  Entitled the "Lawsuit" it was a picture of a cow.  One litigant was pulling on the horns, the other on the tail.  While went on the lawyer was milking the cow.  Anybody see a similarity here?

Slide to Unlock Patent - Huh?

They seem to place a lot of weight on the Slide-To-Unlock feature which appears to be patented.  Exactly what is the benefit of this?  Does anyone know.

To me it's a nothing but a nuisence.  I wish I could turn it off.

Looks like Apple and SAmsung patent fight is never ending one. Guess its more like a business for everyone. For some to keep themselves busy and for others to make money.

Looking at this squabble between Apple and Samsung - I start liking Chinese copycats. We should do case study for this.

@zeeglen, can't argue with that. But egnineers also benefit from lawyers' work -- if they argue successfully in court to value engineers' work.

It's mostly BS.  Very highly-paid BS because it is precise to 4 decimal places.  Engineers design, liars lawyers get rich off their efforts.

I was always curious how in the world laywers come up with these figures. It's a fascinating back and forth in the courtroom drama!

Drones are, in essence, flying autonomous vehicles. Pros and cons surrounding drones today might well foreshadow the debate over the development of self-driving cars. In the context of a strongly regulated aviation industry, "self-flying" drones pose a fresh challenge. How safe is it to fly drones in different environments? Should drones be required for visual line of sight – as are piloted airplanes? Join EE Times' Junko Yoshida as she moderates a panel of drone experts.
