Great article, Rick. There's a lot of energy in the IoT community in San Francisco right now.  SoMA, Civic Center and Potrero Hill have a high-concentration of IoT start-ups not only because of the incubators. Internet of Things sits at the intersection of design, engineering, data science and entreprenurship. Those 3 neighbourhoods in San Francisco are accessible for people in South Bay, East Bay as well as the city. They attract talents in all 4 groups. The incubators have given them convenient places to meet and work together.

I founded the San Francisco Internet of Things Meetup in 2012. Both the number and quality of people that I've seen in our events is a testiment of this growing movement.

The size of the crowd depends a lot on the size of the venue. The biggest crowd we drew so far was from a panel discussion on the logistics in bringing an IoT product to life.

Nice post. I agree with your thougts and view. The part about baby is totally true and it happen. Babies are very innocent and sensitive. They depends on their parents. It is the responsible of all parents to take proper care of theri baby. Bbay products also affect baby's health so we have to choose the good one and have sufficient knowledge about baby products at the time of buying.

With so many hardware suppliers, fabricators and manufacturers in the South Bay, any comment on why these startups have sprung up in San Fran? Hasn't this slowed them down? I know of at least one bright South Bay EE that refuses to travel the distance because of the inconvince of doing hardware in the city.
