Here's a few of my favorites, not in any particular order:

http://xkcd.com/898/

http://xkcd.com/227/

https://xkcd.com/567/

https://xkcd.com/730/

There's really nothing else quite like XKCD.

What can I say -- I love all of these -- I really like 898 -- and 730 is the way non-engineers see real circuit diagrams LOL

@Duane - The circuit diagram one is my favourite - I pointed it out to Max a couple of weeks ago.

I LOVE XKCD - you just keep clicking the random button and after half an hour your bad mood is gone......

Do you mean your wife gets bored and wanders off?

To the best of my knowledge, my wife hasn't actually read any of my columns, which says something for her lack of interest in (a) technology or (b) me ... I prefer to think it's (a) LOL

Perhaps she thinks it's better not to know.  As the saying goes, "when ignorance is bliss, 'tis folly to be wise".  Or maybe she's looked under too many rocks in her life and found all sorts of disgusting things, so has learned not to look under rocks.

I once read an interesting novel called Rue des Boutiques Obscures [The Street with the Dark Shops, by Patrick Modiano] about a man with amnesia who by happenstance gets a clue as to who he really is.  For the rest of the book he tracks himself down, and discovers something so heartbreaking that it would have been better if he had never known.

Patrick Modiano just won the Nobel Prize in Literature.  Chapeau!  While well-known in France, M. Modiano is largely unknown in the USA.  Max, you can say you'd heard of him and that you actually know an American who has read one of his books :-)

The English translation of Rue des Boutiques Obscures is called Missing Person.

I knwo lots of Americans who read books -- some of those books even contain words (the rest are graphic novels LOL)

One that I especially like is Tech Support Cheat Sheet. Some people do seem to think that just because one has basic problem solving skills and exploits the reversibility of most actions that one is a computer expert.

Now honestly, what self respecting programmer writes code like that?? That's almost sillier than not checking whether you've reached the end of your buffer.

NEXT UPCOMING BROADCAST
In conjunction with unveiling of EE Times’ Silicon 60 list, journalist & Silicon 60 researcher Peter Clarke hosts a conversation on startups in the electronics industry. One of Silicon Valley's great contributions to the world has been the demonstration of how the application of entrepreneurship and venture capital to electronics and semiconductor hardware can create wealth with developments in semiconductors, displays, design automation, MEMS and across the breadth of hardware developments. But in recent years concerns have been raised that traditional venture capital has turned its back on hardware-related startups in favor of software and Internet applications and services. Panelists from incubators join Peter Clarke in debate.
