Multitasking contact lenses

Who would have ever guessed that our contact lenses would be multitasking in a few years? It certainly beats accumulating more and more technical luggage to carry around.  I just hope that when dust blows into our eyes on a blustery day that our contact lenses won't misunderstand our blinking eyes and trigger something unintended.

A reseracher in Belgium discussed similar ideas last year and is noew partnered with a contact lens maker. See http://www.eetimes.com/document.asp?doc_id=1319742

Also, others have put chips on plastic including contact lenses to continuously check blood glucose levels (was this Google also?)

With Google contact lens becoming a reality it would be like what fairies or genies do in stories with blink of an eye. It would be fascinating. Many a times one would like to get things done just with mere thoughts or seeing..guess that what comign true.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
