It is remarkable to me that the material in the 3D printer is biocompatible (it doesn't breakdown or cause reactions with the body) and that it is strong enough to serve as a life long skill. The ability to 'print' a 3D replacement upper skull doesn't strike me as that remarkable (any shape can be made).
