@Sanjib: Hope to own one if I could...I am sure now that making this on my own would remain a dream...because I guess I was never as serious as these folks!! :)

Everyone devotes time to the hobby/activity in which they are most interested. I've got too many things on the go at the moment, but I do hope one day to build a large hexacopter to play with...

@Max: Very true!! I had a wish to make an RC airplane (I am fond of the flying machines). I told this to many of my friends and colleagues who possess similar interest, but alas...I could not fulfill that wish and it remained a dream. In 2006 I bought one RC plane (having two electric motors, not a gas engine one) but I hardly flown it 5-6 times before I crashed it to an advertising hoarding. I changed my plan to make a copter so that it hangs in the air and does not have to attain speed as an airplane to fly (less chance of crashing :))...but again it remained a dream. I could not find a stable toy so far. But now I see a lots happening around it and engineers making this a serious hobby/work. That is good!! Hope to own one if I could...I am sure now that making this on my own would remain a dream...because I guess I was never as serious as these folks!! :)

Wouldn't you love to play with this sort of thing? I coudl amuse myself for months if I had a swarm of these little beauties...

My understanting is that there's a central controller sending out streams of commands -- the drones are just responsible for being in the right place at the right time.

I LOVE this stuff!!!

Amazing!!!...how are these drones synchronized? Any idea if there is a wireless communication between these robots which is maintaining the order...or is there a central computer/controller that is commanding these drones and maintaining the order (most probably)? The control is also superb for these drone copters!

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling.
