The notion of using 3D printing technology to enable Just In Time (JIT) production at the end of the supply chain is a radical concept. Huge savings might be achieved if we could avoid purchasing and storing items in the event of a need. Instead the necessary emergency supplies and equipment could be produced on site if and when they are needed.

There will probably be a long way to go to fully realize the possibilities of JIT production--with niches filling first--but the enormous savings will no doubt prevail.
