3D printing is a revolutionary technology that helps productivity immensely. Saves tooling cost for making prototypes, shorten project cycle by eliminating tooling development time & shipment. Good to that the college students are made aware about the advantages and effective utilization of the different 3D printing technologies available today. Wish to see a 3D printing technology for making the PCBs too very soon!

Yes, there are several 3-D printers specializing in circuit boards nearing release--from the $300,000 "GreenJet" from Camtek for professionals to the $3500 EX from a Kickstarter project for hobbyists.

The notion of using 3D printing technology to enable Just In Time (JIT) production at the end of the supply chain is a radical concept. Huge savings might be achieved if we could avoid purchasing and storing items in the event of a need. Instead the necessary emergency supplies and equipment could be produced on site if and when they are needed.

There will probably be a long way to go to fully realize the possibilities of JIT production--with niches filling first--but the enormous savings will no doubt prevail.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
