I've never even heard of it!!! I'm really strapped for time today -- do you know them? If so, ask them to email me at max@CliveMaxfield.com and we'll do a write-up on them for PCB Designline

@DeeCee430: Easy-PC has had radial (polar) grids since version 14...

Wonderful information -- thanks for sharing -- hopefully someone who is familiar with DesignSpark PCB can tell us more...

Hi Max,

Being a Brit you shouldn't overlook our domestic developers - notably Westdev Limited, whose core team were responsible for Racal-Redac's CADSTAR before moving toward higher ground following the Zuken takeover. These fine Tewkesbury individuals went on to develop, market, and support Pulsonix, a package that you really should try out! Furthermore, it offers excellent value for a highly-capable tool, it's as solid as the legendary rock on its hard place, and on the few occasions that I've needed help, the support is superlative!

Kind regards,

David Marsh

Perhaps someone will implement a Hawaiian layout feature in time for your first wearable/telepresence design.

[I'd swear that I just heard the feature request form rendering on your screen right now...]

Easy-PC has had radial (polar) grids since version 14 (almost 4 years ago).

Pulsonix (from the same company) also appears to support radial/polar grids.

DesignSpark and PCB Artist are both derived from Easy-PC, but I haven't used them, so don't know if they support this feature.

@ewertz: Glad this subject came up -- I may never have known about it otherwise!

And thus we see the true power of EETimes in general (and of my blogs in particular LOL)

Eagle does apparently allow you to (just) do polar/radial placement of pads and packages, but none of the standard/remaining grid functionality seems to grok polar.

It's documented in a very small bite of the manual.  Useful for placement definitely.

Glad this subject came up -- I may never have known about it otherwise!
