@Max... "had left me baffled, bewildered, and confused"

If you're anything like me, that is not difficult :-)

I'd rather wake up and smell the beignets.  Preferably from New Orleans' Café du Monde, with café au lait.

@Wnderer: He should have clearly stated that he requires his bagels to retain the same topology as his coffee mug...

I agree -- that was his big mistake -- the problem is that Martin loses focus when he hears words like "bagel," and his knees go weak when he hears words like "knish" LOL

Ah -- now I understand -- I must admit that your earlier ramblings had left me baffled, bewildered, and confused

@antedeluvian: I don't think Martin was compaining about slicing the bagel in the horizontal plane, leaving the hole as a whole(??). I am sure he was maintaing that bagel purity is compromiised by slicing it vertically after slicing it horizontally.

I'm not saying you are wrong ... but I had the impression he was talking about slicing it horizontally ... I was hoping this blog would slip under his "Bagel Radar" ... but I fear we are now forced to ask him to clarify...

I slice my bagels all the way through and love to lavish them with cream cheese and either salmon or bacon
