Indeed, it is stunning that a rocket thruster can be 3D printed. It seems like just a few years ago 3D printing was mostly restricted to objects that could be made out of plastic.

Advancements on 3D printer front are so quick and big that printer sounds like a misnomer for this technology. Hopefully someone will come up with a better name.

Yes you are right. 3-D printing is no longer just for prototypes, but can also be used for limited-run end-user products. For long runs its still cheaper to use stamp dies for sheet metal, injection molds for plastic parts, and CNC (computer numerical control) machine tools for metal parts, but I predict that the day is in sight when even mass produced items will be using cheap, super-fast versions of todays 3-D printers.

With this type of application, it is very possible that 3D could have real impact on commerce and industry far beyond where anyone would have imagined. Its application is evolving and this sector is just young.

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
