Types of furniture

There are many way of classifying furniture into type such as classifying with material in use or the functions of the Furniture. In this case I will classify using functionality or function since no matter what function bedroom furniture does, it can be made with any kind of material which include plastic and timber as the main materials
 
Furniture can be classified into six major groups
 
1. Seating
 
This type is used mainly for relaxation purposes although some are used in gatherings like churches and conferences .They include; Chair, stool,ottoman,fauteuil,divan,beanbag, couch, bench and love seat
 
2. Sleeping
 
They are mostly used in bedroom furniture full body rest usually done at night .The include; Bed,hammock,sofa bed,mattress, infant bed, headboard,day bed, futon
 
3. Entertainment
 
This are furniture used in entertainment places and they include Billiard table,Chess table,Entertainment centre, Gramophone, Hi fi, Jukebox, pinball machine,Radiogram
 
4. Surface
 
This is the group of bedroom furniture that is on the surface supported by the gound and examples include; Lowboy,Monks bench,Pedestals,Table, workbench and desk
 
5. Storage
 
This is the type of furniture used in design of storage places like the stores ,garage, and even in the kitchens. These examples of furniture include; Coat rack, A coat rack, Filing cabinet, Nightstand, Ottoman, Plan chest, Shelving, Sideboard or buffet, Safe, An umbrella stand, Wardrobe or armoire, Wine rack and bookcase
 
6. Sets
 
This are the type of furniture than come in group bounded together as a set . They include, Bedroom Furniture set, Dinette set, Dining set, and Vanity set
