@Sanjib "Wow!! :) This is an excellent "portable" timepiece. ;)"

Are you kidding? It measures voltage and time. It's a projector, a light source, and wilth some modification, it can be a musician's metronome. Just get the trace pulsing as the right time. For that matter, it can be a disco strobe light.

Wow!! :) This is an excellent "portable" timepiece. ;)

What other functions it has other than being a timepiece? Or it is just a timepiece?

@MeasurementBlues: ...I never liked wearing a watch. My wife boiught be one as an engagement gift...

A couple of years ago I treated myself to a Nixie-Tube Watch from Cathode Corner. I showed it to my wife and told her it was my pride and joy and I would never buy another wristwatch again.

For Christmas she bought me a .... wait for it... wait for it... yes, you got it -- a wristwatch.

Now, it's a very nice wristwatch and I wear it all the time -- my Nixie-Tube watch is in my office (on the bright side this is keeping it safe and in great condition).

When I'm going to speak at a conference -- on the way to the airport -- I sneak into my office and exchange watches -- then swap them out again upon my return LOL

@betajet What's next, using a disco ball to mount a whole-room scanner?

Someone is going to develop one of those and make a lot more money than you.

@betajet: I rarely see a young person wearing a wrist-watch any more.

That's because they use their phones as watches.

I never liked wearing a watch. My wife boiught be one as an engagement gift. I wore it for about a year, then put it away forever. That was long before I had a phone. If you don;t carry a timekeeper, you develop an acute sense of time. Plus, I had a clock in my car and since I was usually driving when time mattered, I had a timekeeper then.

You want to wear a Dick Tracy gadget? Fine with me. But, I'm not putting an oscilloscope on my wrist.

@elctrnx_lyf: Will this give an opprtunity for more and more hardware makers to start entering into this market with cheaper and yet cosmetic gadgets.

I think so -- I think if we look just a few years into the future we will be amazed at the variety of wearable electronics products that are available.
