I was a physics major who got distracted and ended up going into ee so this is very "meta":-) Any chance you could upload the example to the Parallella community open source github repository. Any one of the popular open source licenses would be fine (BSD,GPL, Apache, MIT). I am sure others could learn a lot from your example.
@Andreas: Of course, I would love to upload the example to the Parallella repository. Just let me clean the code and I'll upload the two versions under GPL license: the one that uses a general purpose code running on the Cortex A9 and the hardware accelerated one by using the Epiphany processor. In this way, the speed-up provided by your multicore device can be clearly appreciated ;-)
I started to play with lego kits when I was about 7-8 years old. They already included some motors, gears... Nowadays, I can confirm that Lego is my personal "3D printer". From time to time, I buy a new box, and everytime I need a mechanical prototype, I combine Lego stuff for doing the task ;-)
What are the engineering and design challenges in creating successful IoT devices? These devices are usually small, resource-constrained electronics designed to sense, collect, send, and/or interpret data. Some of the devices need to be smart enough to act upon data in real time, 24/7. Specifically the guests will discuss sensors, security, and lessons from IoT deployments.
