I am eagerly awaiting the delivery of the Orphan Black Season Two DVD set. Yeah, I know, it aired ages ago but we tend to bing watch everything at our house so we wait until it is available on DVD or on demand. Check it out - you won't regert it. The same actress plays several different roles (clones) and it's incredibly clever.
I don't need to I can tell you are a man of impeccable taste (unlike that no-account Rich Pell, who isn't fit to lick the ground Doctor Who walks on!)
One I really did like was Babylon 5 -- the way the "Shadows" grew in the telling and the story developed. I'm seriously thinking about getting the entire series on DVD ($99 the last time I looked on Amazon) ... but then I come back to thinking "I haven't got the time..."
If you never saw Earth 2, consider yourself lucky. It started out well, but descended into the truly bizarre before it saw the axe.
BG (new) is actually well worth the time - unlike the spinoff. It started with a solid base of the best parts of the original series, brought out really good explanations of the how and why, and the plot and character development, as well as the acting was spectacular. Dig it out and tell me I'm lyin'!
@Barry: ...lately it seems more like the science fiction side of it has been downplayed in favour plot twist after plot twist...
I don't mind a good plot twist or too ... so long as they don;t twist it so much that no one has a clue what's going on anymore (I heard that happened to "Lost" -- but once again I never started looking at that one).
@WDM: It seems a common affliction - watching to the bitter end - "Earth 2" and "Battlestar Galactica" come to mind...
I never saw "Earth 2" -- was it worth it? I remember the original "Battlestar Galactica" when I was young -- I havn;t seen the new one, but I have a sneaking suspission that I have the whole thing on DVD in a cupboard somewhere -- is it worth my rooting it out?
It seems a common affliction - watching to the bitter end - "Earth 2" and "Battlestar Galactica" come to mind, although to be fair, the latter was extremely good right up unitl the last few episodes.
I'm currently addicted to "Defiance" - plausible settings, engaging characaters, real human reactions to stresses, extremely well-done sets, SFX and makeup, believeable anthromorphaliens (is that a word?), MacGyvering of old-Earth tech as well as a gentle sprinkle of AlienTech. They even have an even more addictive online massive multiplayer game where you get to give it in spades to the baddies.
I give it an A++. My wife doesn't get it, but then again, she didn't ge BG either. Luddites.
