@Max, have you ever heard of a DVR? Or in my case a VCR?

but I cannot possibly watch them all, so I was hoping to elicit your advice. Have you watched -- or are you currently watching -- any of the following?
    • Continuum
  • Defiance
  • Dominion
  • Falling Skies
  • Lost Girl
  • Orphan Black
  • The 100

@MeasurementBlues: ...have you ever heard of a DVR?

Sure -- but the problem of time remains -- I have a drawer full of really good DVDs that I simply haven't found the time to watch yet -- the last thing I need to do is fill the DVR.

What I do is use the DVR to record "The Last Ship" on Sunday evenings while Gina and I watch cooking shows -- then I'll watch that episode the following weekend while she's at work.

@Max...time is the problem.  On Tuesdays (last night here) we get 2 back to back episodes of Air Crash Investigations, which I love.   We only watch one, then go to sleep.  Or rather my wife does, I lie awake wondering what i have missed....

I have a set top box someone gave me that can record to USB - I must see if I can get that working for time shifting.  But it's still a problem finding time to watch....

Great bed-time entertainment!  "Pleasant dreams, hmmmmHeh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh".

[from Inner Sanctum, a popular USA "Golden Age of Radio" show.]

Max, I don't think you understand the purpose of the DVR as a labor-saving device.  Haven't you read Douglas Adams' Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency?  The purpose of a DVR (or VCR in the book) is to watch TV for you :-)

"And are there any that I've missed out?"

Game of Thrones?  The Walking Dead?

Do I look like the sort of man who wouldn't have read Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency?

@Rich: Game of Thrones?  The Walking Dead?

I've seen the Game of Thrones advertized -- but I haven;t seen a single episode and have no real idea what it's about -- is it worth watching.

Re the Walking Dead, I devoured the first couple of series -- right up to the end of the series where the camera pull sback and you see the prison in the background -- but then I read all of the graphic novels, so I know what's coming next ... and I stopped watching. If I start again, I'll have to go all the way back to the beginning...

Hell, yes.  But then again, I'm not familiar with any of the other series you've mentioned except for Dr. Who, which I never was particularly a fan of, so perhaps we're on different wavelengths.  :)

Wash your mouth out with soap and water -- you are obviously a man of no account -- like I would take advice from one such as you -- "Ha!" I say! :-)
