We are hearing about  Haptics for a couple of years now from various reasearch labs - Haptic feedback sensors, Haptic feedback display and so on.

When can we expect a real commercial product using such technologies?

Texture on Touch Screens

This sounds great - and I'm looking ahead to the day that HTML supports a touch screen box commany with haptic feedback for the blind (and the overworked computer professional). Not only can this be used to confirm button presses, it can also be used to locate the button on a touchscreen quickly by feel rather than by sight. I'm guessing that the first meaningful applications will be in enhancing the machine-user interface and that the ability to have textured graphics and more interactive games will be an interesting bonus.
