STMicro is partnership with Broadcom, promoting WiCED IoT solution, which is based on STM32F205 (Cortex-M3 120MHz) + BCM4390 single-band 11n 1x1 radio.

Freescale is partship with Qualcom-Atheros, promoting SP140 IoT reference design, which is based on Kinetis K22 (Cortex-M4 120MHz) + QCA4002/4004 single or dual-band 11n 1x1 radio.

Marvell is promoting their own IoT platform, based on 88MC200 (Cortex-M3 200MHz) + 88W8000 series radios, single or dual-band 11n 1x1 radio with optional Bluetooth.

TI is promoting CC3000 SimpleLink solutions. Their latest offering is CC3100 single-band 11n 1x1 radio with MSP430 16-bit MCU (25MHz).

Current Atmel IoT solution is "Smartconnect SAM23", which is based on SAM21 (Cortex-M0+ 48MHz) + ATOZMO3000 single-band 11b/g radio.


No wonder they are desparate to get 11n and BTLE technology to remain in IoT war frontline.

LoL!  Perhaps that "Blaise Castle folly" is an apt metaphor of the Internet of Digitial Things :-)

surprised to see the thumbnail picture you used is Blaise Castle folly in Bristol,UK. BTW it is not a castle at all but just a talking point  folly in the grounds of a manor house now owned by the city.

Strangely exactly this picture is used on the Wikipedia page!
