Hi @Bert22306, thanks, but no, it's bits. Micron confirmed that once it went live as Bytes. It's a common error that people make with memory I've found (I use to freelance for a memory company). We live in a Byte world!

This is basically a 1GByte memory. The single chip with this level of density could definitely save a lot of board space.

I don't think so, Janine. The small "b" means "bit," while capital B means "byte" (8 bits). Total capacity of RAM is usually measured as the quantity of bytes it can hold, e.g. ASCII characters would be bytes, so it should be labeled as 8 GB, as you had it originally.

You can verify this in any number of places. Here are two examples.

You are correct. Error made in production. I'm fixing this now.

Should be Gb, not GB for the Micron part (not sure about the other).

NEXT UPCOMING BROADCAST
In conjunction with unveiling of EE Times’ Silicon 60 list, journalist & Silicon 60 researcher Peter Clarke hosts a conversation on startups in the electronics industry. One of Silicon Valley's great contributions to the world has been the demonstration of how the application of entrepreneurship and venture capital to electronics and semiconductor hardware can create wealth with developments in semiconductors, displays, design automation, MEMS and across the breadth of hardware developments. But in recent years concerns have been raised that traditional venture capital has turned its back on hardware-related startups in favor of software and Internet applications and services. Panelists from incubators join Peter Clarke in debate.
