A very cool story, Jessica! I agree...adding "Art" to STEM makes the wonder of science so much more accessible to the masses!

This is a good combination of Science, technology and Nature.

Anyone who saw this wil never forget the constant PI , in his/her lifetime.

A number of my old engineering text books from the slide rule days give 22/7 as a shortcut to pi.  Good to 5 digits of accuracy, which most sin/cos tables were composed to.

My class (those born in 1960) were probably the last group in the high school system to be taught slide rule.  In my first year of college one professor considered calculators to be a form of cheating.

355/113 is 3.1415929203... Pretty much close to Pi (3.141592653589...). When you have to deal with Pi with 8 or 16bit embedded MCU, multiply with 355 then divide by 113 can be a good-ehough substitute of Pi :-)
