@kfield: Too bad, because we are the cool people!

I just found this Minnesota Nice webpage that's very interesting. It says:

The cultural characteristics of Minnesota nice include a polite friendliness, an aversion to confrontation, a tendency toward understatement, a disinclination to make a fuss or stand out, emotional restraint, and self-deprecation.

Are you sure you're from Minnesota? LOL

@Aeroengineer: I can say that I will be there, it is under an hour from my house.

Happy Dance! Will you be able to persuade your wife to come also?

I might make the other side of the country, but not the other side of the world I'm afraid.  But I am still working on getting to EELive 2015.  As the Gilroy Garlic Festival will take place immediately after EELive I will be in 7th heaven.  Just be glad the garlic festival is not BEFORE EELive :-)

For other garlic lovers:

EELive 2015 - July 20,21 & 22

Gilroy Garlic Festival - July 24, 25 & 26

I can sympathize.  My usual vacation planning horizon is measured in weeks, driven by the need to book airline tickets at least 3 weeks out to get the best fares.  In this case, I'll be driving, so hotekls were the only issue for me. Once my buddy told me that it was almost too late to book rooms in Dayton, I hurried to do it last week!  Feels really strange planning this far ahead.....  BTW, what's your home base?  I think you mentioned once you were barely hanging onto the Left Coast to keep from falling into the Pacific.

Well, it's almost a year from now, so I certainly couldn't claim a lack of advanced planning time. Throw in a couple of good museums, and maybe a side trip to visit relatives in Minnesota, and it sounds like a jolly good adventure to me.

As I have never been able to justify (to my employer) attending any EELive events,(and too frugal to pay my own way), I'm especially looking forward to meeting "the gang" in the flesh and exploring the wonders of Hamvention and the Dayton area "cultural" offerings (fermentation IS a culture).
