thanks, David - yes - some browser issues likely - post a message dd not work, so as an engineer, I started clicking other buttons to see what hapends :)

@fanny, I get the impression you clicked "Start a Board" instead of "post message" as your comment has ended up on its own thread.  "Post Message" posts a comment on the blog, and "reply" posts a reply to comeone else's comment.     I've never seen any use for the "start a board" link, it seems to be mainly used by spammers.... present company excepted of course :-)

Thank you for jogging the memories, Martin.  The other day I was trying to remember that period and who acquired whom... my product, WireScope, ended up under HP in 1998, soon to become Agilent, and our competitor, Fluke, is now under Borg.  What's next?

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
