It is mentioned in the article that Nokia is planning to design Cat9 device that can support carrier aggregation up to 60Mhz. Carrier Aggregation in LTE-A systems will require some special features on the user devices/phones. What specific requirement supposed to be on the phones to get benefited with LTE-A? It is also discussed in the article that Nokia was able to test 20 MHz and 40 MHz carrier aggregation on the existing handsets, which handsets are in the discussion here?

Some additional information from Nokia:

 

The  3.5 GHz TD-LTE radio will be available for trials in Q4 2014.

The 2 Receive UL_COMP is available commercially; the 4 Receive will be available in Q4; and the 8 Receive is planned for trials in Q4.

The TM9 Beamforming feature has two flavors:

SU (single user) MIMO – is available commercially

MU (multi user) MIMO – is planned for trials in Q4

As data rates begin to move beyond 25 Gbps channels, new problems arise. Getting to 50 Gbps channels might not be possible with the traditional NRZ (2-level) signaling. PAM4 lets data rates double with only a small increase in channel bandwidth by sending two bits per symbol. But, it brings new measurement and analysis problems.
