@DMcCunney: ...Ripley's suit in the Alien film was essentially a wearable forklift with more versatility, and the fact it could go one-on-one with the Alien queen was an unintended fringe benefit.  This is more of the same.

But one that's worth keeping in mind -- you never know when an Alien Queen is going to make an appearance (remember that "No one expected the Spanish Inquisition" LOL)

@Max Maxfield: Can you imagine these machines being used on construction sites or as part of rescue operations?

Depends entirely on what it would cost.  I'm willing to bet this thing is expensive (welcome to engineering prototypes...), and likely lots of fun to keep maintained.

It will need to get smaller, lighter, cheaper, and have demonstrated use cases only it can do to make it competitive with existing lower-tech solutions.

Powered robot exoskeletons that dramatically increase the strength of the human wearer are a topic of ongoing research, with possible military applications a driver.

Ripley's suit in the Alien film was essentially a wearable forklift with more versatility, and the fact it could go one-on-one with the Alien queen was an unintended fringe benefit.  This is more of the same.

Shrink it!

It needs to shrink in size and weight, but that's what always happens with technologies. (Early steam engines occupied whole buildings to generate 5hp (7kW).

@Rcurl: ...I GOTTA get me one of these!

Form a queue (behind me)

Also, when are you next coming to Huntsville -- you have to try the latest incarnation of my Virtual Reality system with the Touch Controllers -- having these controllers is the difference between night and day!

The US-built Megabot team: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XVJTGLL2SnI

has challenged the Japanese-built Kurata robot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-3MxuklTfzk

...to a duel and the Japanese team has accepted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7u8mheM2Hrg

This will be very interesting!!

PS- Yes, I know it's not a power loader, but it's the same thing only different.
