All these companies think they are going to take on Broadcom in Ethernet switching. It's really laughable. What a waste of time and money. It's like all the FPGA startups over the years, all failed to win against Xilinx/Altera.
Mellanox has been at this for years and completely failed to make a dent in switching. None of them are anywhere close to returning money on the investment this takes. This is a massive silicon and software effort. Thus the high barrier to try and compete with BRCM.
I don't see this going anywhere. Ethernet needs to work reliably and bug free. That is Broadcom switching. You won't get fired for using BRCM Tomahawk II. You will if you use Nephos.
