Microprocessor core vendor ARM Ltd. (Cambridge, U.K.) has announced it is supplying ARM7TDMI models and MicroPack and PrimeCell peripherals to the Institute for System Level Integration (ISLI; Livingston, Scotland) to enhance ISLI's system-level design courses and carry out system-on-chip (SoC) research using the ARM architecture.
ARM also announced that ZTEIC has licensed the ARM MicroPack and PrimeCell Peripherals.
According to ARM and ISLI, the ARM donation will allow ISLI to familiarize postgraduate students with the ARM architecture.
ZTEIC, meanwhile, plans to incorporate the ARM MicroPack and PrimeCell Peripherals into ARM7TDMI-based communications applications.
PrimeCell Peripherals are Amba bus-compliant cores for system-on-chip integration. ARM claims the peripherals are silicon-proven and ready for reuse. The ARM MicroPack design kit lets SoC designers integrate the PrimeCell Peripherals with additional third-party IP into Amba-bus-based platforms. Visit www.arm.com for more information.
