EEdesign Industry GroupsListed here are standards and industry groups of interest to the IC and PCBdesign community.Accellera is the newly-formed combination of Open Verilog International (OVI) and VHDL International (VI). The ACM Special Interest Group on Design Automation (SIGDA) offers a wealth of information on EDA topics. Information about two Avanti user groups, Aurora and Assure, is housed at this site. The EDA Consortium (EDAC) is a trade organization that represents EDA vendors, and publishes market statistics survey reports. A listing of EDA industry groups appears on this new site created by Accellera. A glossary of EDA standards is at this site maintained by Si2. Electronic Design Interchange Standard (EDIF) is an interoperability standard maintained by the Electronic Industries Association. The Gigascale Silicon Research Center (GSRC) is a long-range, multi-university research effort aimed at creating a new chip design methodology. The IEEE CANDE Society is famous for its five-year predictions for the EDA industry. The IPC - Association Connecting Electronics Industries publishes specifications for PCB design and manufacturing and sponsors the IPC Designers Council, a professional society for PCB designers offering networking and education . Upcoming activities of the International Cadence Userýs Group (ICU) are featured on this web site. The Mentor Userýs Group (MUG) web site provides conference updates and a library for members. The Open Model Forum (OMF) developed the Open Model Interface (OMI) standard for digital simulation models. Open SystemC is a coalition of vendors supporting the SystemC modeling platform developed by Synopsys and CoWare. The Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2) is developing standards and methodologies to help make EDA tools more interoperable. The SpecC Technology Open Consortium is developing a specification for the SpecC system-level design language. The Synopsys Userýs Group (SNUG) home page includes a calendar of events and an archive of papers. The System Level Design Language (SLDL) initiative, part of Accellera, is developing a language semantics for specification and high-level design of electronic systems. The Virtual Component Exchange (VCX) is developing a business and legal infrastructure for the exchange of silicon intellectual property.
