LONDON — Wireless chip company ST-Ericsson NV (Geneva, Switzerland) has appointed Edgar Auslander as senior vice president, head of strategic planning. Prior to joining ST-Ericsson, Auslander was director of the ultra mobility group at Intel, responsible for the integration and support of wireless platforms for mobile internet devices and strategic alliances.
Auslander is one of the first appointments of Gilles Delfassy, who was appointed in September as president and CEO of ST-Ericsson with effect from Monday (Nov. 2). Auslander is a former a colleague of Delfassy's at Texas Instruments.
Auslander was one of the founders of Texas Instruments' wireless business unit. He also served as the company's general manager of worldwide strategy and corporate development.
Co-author of "The Applications of Programmable DSPs in Mobile Communications" (published by Wiley), Auslander holds an MBA from Columbia University and a Master of Electrical Engineering from Cornell University. He is also a senior member of the IEEE.
"Edgar's impressive credentials will be key in helping us devise the best strategies that will contribute to our continued innovation and business leadership," said Delfassy, in a statement. "I'm confident that ST-Ericsson will benefit from his business savvy and deep industry knowledge, while we are shaping the long-term success of the company."
