SAN FRANCISCO — Rajeev Madhavan, CEO of Magma Design Automation Inc., will be the featured keynote speaker at the Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2)'s eighth OpenAccess+ Conference April 11 at the Sun Microsystems Conference Center in Santa Clara, Calif., Si2 said.

The conference will feature speakers and demonstrations from several semiconductor and EDA companies, Si2 said, including Advanced Micro Devices Corp., Cadence Design Systems Inc., IBM Corp., Intel Corp., Magma, Micron Technology Inc., National Semiconductor Inc., Philips Semiconductor, Sun and others.

Madhavan will give a talk entitled, "When to Innovate, When to Collaborate," Si2 said.

In perhaps a preview of his comments, Madhavan said through a statement that Magma has been working with OpenAccess to ensure interoperability with its key partners.

"To enable designers to address the increasing costs and complexity of ICs targeted to 65 nanometer and finer process geometries, the EDA industry is going to have to deliver true automation," Madhavan said. "But no company can provide every tool a designer will need. Smart executives know how and when to focus their company's energies on the projects that will bring the most return and growth, and more importantly, enable their customers' success."

Si2 (Austin, Texas) said the "+" in the conference title indicates the expanded scope of the conference and the presentations, including a focus on where OpenAccess is heading and how it relates to other Si2 initiatives in library modeling and design-for-manufacturing.

The full agenda of the OpenAccess+ Conference is available on Si2's Web site.
