LONDON — Two weeks after changing its name from Movidia, fabless mobile video chip company Movidius Ltd. has announced two additions to its senior management team.

Movidius (Dublin, Ireland) has appointed John Bourke and Barry Jones to the posts of chief financial officer and vice president of software engineering, respectively. Movidius, founded in 2005, offers silicon that is said to simplify video editing and post-production capabilities for the creation of user-generated content for mobile social networking.

Before joining Movidius Bourke was co-founder and CFO of GloNav Inc., a fabless semiconductor company specializing in GPS technologies, which was sold to NXP BV and thence to ST-Ericsson in 2008. Prior to that Bourke was vice president of finance at Ceva Inc.

Barry Jones joined Movidius in June 2009 from Motorola where he was the operations and development director mass-market mobile handset product development across four continents. Prior to this Jones was operations director at TTPCom within its software and silicon business units.

"Barry and John's experience in delivering innovative applications for mobile devices will contribute significantly to our success as we now engage with customers in the next phase of Movidius' growth," said Sean Mitchell, the CEO of Movidius, in a statement.

The company did not explain why it has changed its name except to say it was based on "specific market feedback."
