DALLAS — Green Hills Software announced an integrated development environment and real-time operating system to support Texas Instruments' DaVinci video technology.

Working in partnership with TI, the company used the TI Developers' Conference here to announce the tool and OS support based on Green Hills' MULTI integrated development environment (IDE). The IDE, according to Green Hills, supports the idea of multi-processor, multioperating system, multithreaded, multilanguage systems, all from a single environment.

The IDE is geared to TI's multicore TMS320DM644x processors based on DaVinci technology. Announced in December, DaVinci includes a collection of a DSP-plus-ARM systems-on-chip, as well as accelerators, peripherals and third-party support through software and tools—all aimed at optimizing digital video and audio.

With MULTI, DaVinci gets an ARM compiler as well as TI's Code Composer Studio IDE for the 'C64x+ core. For the OS, the announcement means royalty-free use of Green Hills' established Integrity RTOS.
