WASHINGTON The government will host a workshop on April 6 designed to promote RFID technology.
The Commerce Department said Monday (March 28) that the half-day workshop will address the potential of radio-frequency identification technology and its policy implications. Industry, government and academic panels will also cover technology developments, current and future applications along with privacy and security issues.
The privacy and security panel will "address the challenge of responsible data policies to sustain RFID technology and develop consumer confidence and acceptance of RFID," the agency said in an announcement.
The sessions will be led by Phillip Bond, Commerce undersecretary for technology, and John Kneuer, deputy assistant secretary for communications.
Attendance is free, by attendees must pre-register by March 30.
