BANGALORE, India — Aylus Networks Inc. will set up a global R&D center in Bangalore, to work in tandem with the company’s center in Westford, Mass., to build mobility management solutions, enabling service providers deliver mobile broadcast TV/video and multimedia services across multiple access networks.

The company has also raised $10 million from venture capital firms Matrix Partners and North Bridge Venture Partners for technology development, with a product slated for deployment in a year.

"Bangalore will be the nerve center of the product development. The company will hire 25 engineers by the end of this year. The Bangalore center will focus on the product development and will encompass quality assurance and testing," said Mahesh Ganmukhi, president and chief executive of Aylus.

Aylus’ solution will address the trend to provide uniform multimedia services across 2.5G and 3G, cable and DSL, WiFi, WiMax and mobile broadcast TV networks, according to Ganmukhi.

The global market for services providers in broadcast TV and video over handheld devices is estimated to grow to 250 million subscribers by 2010 to generate over $27 billion. The market for mobile virtual network operators will reach 76 million subscribers to generate $25 billion, Ganmukhi added.
