SEOUL, South Korea — Samsung Electronics unveiled what it claims is the first smart phone equipped with an 8-Gbyte hard disk drive. The SGH-i310 combines a phone, a digital camera and an MP3 player that can store about 2,000 songs.

The phone comes with the latest version of Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphones, which allows users to view files and carry their music libraries with them. It also offers USB 2.0 and a plug-and-play feature lets it be used as a removable hard drive.

The SGH-i310 includes a 2-megapixel camera with flash, microSD slot, document viewer and TV output. Users can record video with the high-resolution camera.

It also supports an enhanced music player function with Bluetooth stereo (dubbed A2DP), digital power amplifier and dual speakers.

The phone will be shown at the CeBIT show in Hanover, Germany, which starts on Thursday (March 9). It will ship in the European market in the second half, according to Samsung.
