Shares rose about 10 percent at ATI Technologies Inc. Wednesday (May 31) amid reports that the graphics chip maker would be acquired by Advanced Micro Devices Inc., according to a report from Reuters.

In the report, Apjit Walia, an analyst with RBC Capital Markets, said: "Our recent checks in the PC food chain suggest a tie-up between AMD and ATI."

ATI and Nvidia Corp. are the two largest graphics chip makers in the market. But ATI has been falling behind due to product delays.
