MUNICH, Germany Automotive supplier Bosch Group has launched a technology center in Plymouth Township, Michigan. With more than 400 engineers and technicians, the center focuses on driver assistance and safety systems for the U.S. market, including Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) systems.
For the center, Bosch has invested $37.5 million (about 30 million). The move is intended to strengthen the company's international position and to complete it's global automotive R&D compound which embraces more than 50 R&D centers worldwide.
"The new R&D center's additional capacity will help us to reach our long-term goals for automotive technology in Northern America", explained Peter Marks, who oversees the region in the Bosch board of directors.
The Plymouth Township center also complements the R&D capacities of nearby Bosch campus in Farmington Hill where the company maintains it's North American automotive headquarters. In this region, Bosch employs 25.000 persons in 80 locations, the company said.
