SAN JOSE, Calif. -- At a gala celebration in Silicon Valley Tuesday (April 15), TechInsights' EE Times feted the recipients of its 4th Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) awards. Industry luminaries and Embedded Systems Conference attendees converged on the Fairmont Hotel, here, for an evening of accolades and entertainment (provided by the "The Late Late Show's" Craig Ferguson), at which Analog Devices Inc.'s co-founder Ray Stata was given the prestigious "Lifetime Achievement Award."

The EE Times ACE Awards celebrate the creators of technology who demonstrate leadership and innovation in the global industry and shape the world we live in.

Also on hand to receive their awards, which were previously announced, were the "2008 Student of the Year," Guruprasad Madhavan, and the "2008 Educator of the Year," Moira Gunn.

The "Editor's Choice" award," handpicked by EE Times Editor-in-Chief Junko Yoshida, was given to Carson Page, the eight-year-old boy from Georgetown, Texas, who made the cover of EE Times last year for his uncanny ability to design FPGAs.

Other ACE winners last night included: Dan Dobberpuhl, of P.A. Semi, for "Design Team of the Year"; Dan Edelstein and Satya Nitta, of IBM Research, for "Innovator(s) of the Year"; Research in Motion's Mike Lazaridis, for "Executive of the Year"; Tim Shaughnessey, of Blade Network Technologies, for "Startup of the Year"; and Mike Holt, of XID Technologies, for "Most Promising New Technology."

The final two awards went to Jessica Keiser, of National Instruments, for "Company of the Year (Small/Medium category)" and Research in Motion, for Company of the Year (Large category)."
