LONDON Ceva, Inc. again tops Gartner's ranking of licensable DSP technology, commanding 61 percent of the 2007 Digital Signal Processor licensing market, with revenues of $26 million.
Coming in second was Verisilicon at 30 percent, with revenues of $13 million, and the only two other companies noted for supplying DSP licensing by Gartner were Improv Systems and 3DSP, with a combined share of 9 percent.
Gartners report suggests the whole market in 2007 was worth $42.9 million, down 5 percent on the previous year. Cevas overall DSP licensing market share grew 10 percent year on year, the same as Improv, but both Verisilicon and 3DSP declined by 25 percent.
Ceva puts its lead and growth down to licensing DSPs for over a decade and spanning six generations of DSP cores. Its publicly announced customer base includes Broadcom, Infineon, InterDigital, Marvell, Mediatek, Mindspeed, NXP, RadioFrame Networks, Renesas, Samsung, Sharp, Sony, Spreadtrum and Zoran.
The company says its customers shipped over 225 million CEVA-powered devices to the wireless handset, automotive, consumer electronics and storage markets.
