SAN FRANCISO—Ultrawideband chip provider Alereon Inc. has acquired wireless USB assets and the associated development team of Stonestreet One, the company said Monday (Nov. 3). Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The addition of the Stonestreet One team expands Alereon's software capabilities, adding depth of expertise in Linux, Windows XP, Vista, Mobile and the future Windows 7, Alereon (Austin, Texas) said.

The Stonestreet One wireless USB drivers have been the "gold standard" used by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) for platform certification since the organization began this work in 2007, according to Alereon.

"The market for Wireless USB products continues to expand, and the addition of the intellectual property and engineering expertise from Stonestreet One provides us additional resources to accelerate our customers' ability to bring new products to market," said Alereon CEO Eric Broockman, in a statement.
