SUNNYVALE, Calif .-- Advanced Micro Devices Inc. continues to rev up the speed of its processors, today announcing four new versions of its AMD-K6-2E embedded processor family at speeds up to 350 MHz.
The new additions include the 350 MHz and 333 MHz standard power processors, and the 333 MHz and 300 MHz low-power processors.
"These new processors give embedded systems developers a tremendous amount of performance for a very reasonable price, while taking advantage of x86 software compatibility, chip sets, board designs, and development tools to help enable a quick time to market," said Jerry Vogel, vice president and general manager of the Embedded Processor Division.
The low-power version of the AMD-K6-2E processor runs at a reduced core voltage of 1.9 volts, while the standard power version is the embedded equivalent to the desktop AMD-K6-2 processor with a standard 2.2-V core voltage. On both versions, the I/O voltage operates at the industry-standard 3.3-V level.
The standard and low-power versions of the AMD-K6-2E processor are available immediately. The standard-power 350 MHz AMD-K6-2E/350AFR is priced at $61, and the 333 MHz AMD-K6-2E/333AFR processor is priced at $59, each in 1,000-unit quantities.
The low-power AMD-K6-2E/333AMZ is priced at $69, and the AMD-K6-2E-300AMZ processor is priced at $66, also in quantities of 1,000.
