MANHASSET, N.Y. Stan Glasgow has been named president and chief operating officer of Sony Electronics Inc., the $11 billion electronics arm of Sony in the United States.
Glasgow becomes president April 1, succeeding Hideki Komiyama, who becomes Sony Electronics' chairman, while continuing as corporate executive vice president and senior general manager for Sony Corp. heading global sales and marketing.
In Glasgow's latest position as president of Sony Electronics’ Consumer Sales Company, he spearheaded U.S. retail and consumer direct sales, helping the company attain record-breaking sales the past two years.
Glasgow joined Sony in 2001 as vice president for computer display products. He has more than 30 years of global consumer electronics, display technology and computer industry-related experience.
In a related announcement, Jay Vandenbree, senior vice president of strategic sales planning for Sony Electronics' Consumer Sales Company, becomes president of consumer sales.
Vandenbree joined Sony in 1987 as a credit manager, advancing into various regional sales management positions nationwide.
