LONDON Handshake Solutions NV, a Royal Philips Electronics subsidiary that has developed a clockless processor core based on the ARM9, said Tuesday (April 25) that is partnering with IBM and other electronic design services companies to form a network of expertise focused on clockless IC design.
The network includes IBM Japan Industrial Solutions Co. Ltd., Bruco BV (Borne, The Netherlands), Silicon & Software Systems Ltd. (Dublin, Ireland) and GDA Technologies Inc. (San Jose, Calif.).
These four companies are already experienced with Handshake’s clockless technology, some having built up years of experience, Handshake (Eindhoven, The Netherlands) said.
Processor technology licensor ARM Holdings plc (Cambridge, England), Handshake’s partner in developing the ARM996HS, was not included in the network announcement.
Handshake said it wants the network to expand to include EDA tool resellers, training providers, as well as EDA vendors and foundries.
“The Handshake Technology Ecosystem adds value for member companies, their customers and the market in general. Members benefit from the pooling of talent, information and technology,” said Wouter Van Roost, chief executive officer of Handshake Solutions, in a statement.
“As a provider of leading-edge professional design services we have been working with Handshake technology for a number of years, building up an in-depth knowledge and capability in the area,” said Dermot Barry, general manager of S3’s system IC business unit, in the same statement.
“GDA is a leader in use of the latest design tools and methodologies and will work with Handshake Solutions to help accelerate adoption of their clockless design methodology,” said Ravi Thummarukudy, vice president and general manager of the IC solutions business unit at GDA Technologies, in the same statement.
Handshake Solutions has been included on the last two iterations of the Silicon 60, EE Times’ list of emerging technology startups.
