SAN JOSE, Calif. -- The insolvency administrator for Qimonda AG has appointed Macquarie Electronics to resell select 300-mm equipment from Qimonda's wafer fabrication facility in Dresden, Germany.

Qimonda filed for bankruptcy earlier this year. Macquarie (San Diego) is a ''remarketing'' specialist for semiconductor equipment.

Some of Qimonda's holdings already have been sold, among them the Dresden photomask center. Qimonda's U.S. unit announced the appointment of Colliers International, Emerald Technology Valuations LLC and Gordon Brothers to assist it in the sale of a wafer fab at Sandston, Virginia, subject to bankruptcy court approval.

''Colliers is selling Qimonda Richmond fab/tools. We are remarketing tools from Dresden,'' according to a spokesman for Macquarie.

Among the wafer fabrication equipment available are various models from Applied Materials, KLA-Tencor, Tokyo Electron, and ASML. Also available is test, assembly, and packaging equipment from such manufacturers as Advantest, Accretech, and Suss MicroTec.
