REGENSBURG, Germany & JERSEY CITY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OneVision, a global provider of prepress software solutions to the printing and publishing industries, announced the addition of color ink savings capabilities to its Speedflow software line for printers and publishers. Speedflow software automatically checks, normalizes, and makes editing and altering graphics and text within PDFs fast and simple to ensure that deadlines are met and print jobs run on time.

Speedflow software is suited for use by printers and publishers that include commercial and digital printers, corporate and institutional publishers, and advertising agencies.

Now, OneVisions Speedflow software line includes new automated color ink savings capabilities that optimize and reduce the amount of expensive CMY ink required in the printing process to maximize the amount of more economical black ink without affecting image quality or appearance.

In addition to significant ink cost reduction, users benefit from enhanced printing quality and increased productivity, as set-up times can be reduced and fan out and web breaks can be avoided. The solution is easy to install and can be used by those with limited color management expertise. The new ink savings feature is available within the software packages Speedflow Basic Plus and Speedflow Suite Plus.

Already included in the Speedflow software line are Speedflow Check, Speedflow Edit, and Speedflow Impose. Speedflow Check examines PDF, PostScript, TIFF and EPS files; repairs errors automatically; and outputs files as PDFs. SpeedflowEdit enables editing and optimizing of text, images, graphics and colors in PDFs. Speedflow Impose is OneVisions JDF-compliant imposition software for PDF files that are used in commercial, digital, and web printing.

Siobhain Towell, Vice President of Marketing, OneVision Inc., said, Printers and publishers are constantly exploring ways to cut costs and maximize resources, which is why OneVision introduced color ink savings functionality to the Speedflow product line. Now, printers and publishers can not only check and edit PDFs quickly and easily to ensure that deadlines are met and ads run as planned, but they can also realize substantial savings by reducing the amount of color ink required without compromising the appearance of printed materials.

OneVisions software products are currently used by many of the worlds leading printing and publishing companies. In the U.S., OneVision clients include Jostens; The Sheridan Group; and Thomson Financial; Dow Jones & Company, Inc.; Gannett Co., Inc.; Pearson plc; Merrill Corporation; and R.R.
