HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., Sept. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Pie today introduced its affordable, consumer-focused solution for Digital Home Integration Management(TM) making it easy for the average consumer to install a home network, keep devices attached to their network running smoothly and easily add new devices into their digital home. To be unveiled at the DEMOfall 2005 conference, one of the world's premier forums for the introduction of new technology innovations, the Pie solution directly addresses the "techno-frustration" experienced by today's consumer, while also addressing the costly ripple effect this has caused through the entire value chain that supplies and supports them.

"While a number of products on the market today claim to ease the challenges of connecting and managing network-capable digital devices, consumer frustration with using these solutions remains extremely high," said Michael Greeson, President of The Diffusion Group. "This frustration expresses itself in high product return rates, as well as skyrocketing service and support costs. The entire value chain is admitting there is a problem and that a better solution is needed. Pie's distributed system approach is uniquely positioned to be just that solution."

The Pie solution consists of an always-on, "plug-and-work" consumer device and dedicated Internet service that together, act as a personal network manager -- an in-home "digital handyman" -- working 24 hours a day to keep the digital home up and running. The Pie solution dramatically simplifies new hardware and software installation and configuration, automates software upgrades and patch management, facilitates security (firewall, spyware, spam, parental controls, etc.) and manages LAN and internet connectivity. Pie transparently manages and maintains the connected devices and the home network for the consumer, and assists service providers with problem resolution.

"A solution to the techno-frustration felt by consumers has been long overdue," said John Barnhill, CEO of Pie, industry veteran and entrepreneur. "The pieces of the integrated digital home for the average consumer are there, but if they turn something on and it doesn't work, the game is over. The Pie solution has been designed to meet the needs of the consumer from the ground up, by eliminating the complexity and frustration that stands between them and the benefits of the fully integrated digital home."
